Handmade ceramic tiles made to order — unique decorative tiles that will be created exclusively for you. Every tile is made by hand using a ceramic technique of Arabic origin, cultivated in Portugal for over 500 years — today practised by only a handful of craftspeople in the world. Miradouro decorative ceramic tiles are available in 14x14 cm format.
How every tile is made — the process
Production of every ceramic tile begins with a plaster mould into which the pattern has been carved. Clay pressed into the mould takes on a precise relief — the fine edges become natural boundaries between glaze colours. Then, using small pipettes, we apply glaze by hand — colour by colour, section by section. The entire process involves 11 stages and takes around three weeks. No machines, no shortcuts. The result is hand-painted ceramic tiles with clear relief and deep, saturated colours that cannot be mistaken for industrial production.
Every pattern designed individually
Every pattern is designed individually — we can work from the client's or interior designer's concept, or propose our own design from scratch. No other bathroom or kitchen will have the same finish.
